Why there are so many protest campaigns against Monsanto in its recent history

Currently, Monsanto is the most hated company throughout the world. There were claims about up to two million protesters or anti Monsanto in over 50 countries by the end of May. This happens because of the health concerns associated with it. It is notable due to its high level of law suits, where the company is both a defender and plaintiff. It has been involved in numerous suits attracting a lot of fines and damages. Protesters of Monsanto products have claimed that individuals eating monsoon developed foods are consigning themselves to sickly and short lives. Some of the diseases associated with it include cancer, allergies, sterility, and liver problems (Planes, n/d). According to research, there are several cases of cancer currently reporter, this includes cancer of the liver, stomach, colon, and rectum. For instance, there have been claims that, recently there was an increase in death rates due to chronic liver related diseases and cirrhosis. These are the major concerns that make Monsanto company GMOs products to be heated most throughout the world.

How Monsanto has responded to these criticisms and defended its role in industrial agriculture

However, although there are several protesters of GMOs, Monsanto in most cases have been able to defend itself. They have claimed that there are several economic benefits associated with their products thus farmers keep using them despite the several critiques. The company claims that there are more end products or the yield from genetically modified seeds than when ordinary seeds are used. As a result of the high yield, lower cost of acquiring to the consumer. The lower cost will help to improve consumers' standard of living hence economic stability of the country (Planes, n/d).

Own take on Monsanto

Indeed, it is difficult to eliminate issues such as GMOs kill people, from protesters minds. However, the truth is that in the long run GMOs will become the leading source of food in the world (Planes, n/d). This is so because corporate monitor is stronger than its citizen's motivators in the US. Therefore, in my option, Monsanto will continue with their production of GMOs. With the current population increase, it becomes necessary to produce low cost GMOs that are affordable to majority. This is one of the major advantages associated with Monsanto products. On the other hand, the main disadvantage associated with Monsanto products is the health concern and claims that it leads to cancer related diseases. Overall, I am for the use of GMOs because of their economic or cost value. Issues such as GMOs is a killer have not been proven scientifically because even though there are people who have died due to cancer, there have not been direct reference that GMO products from Monsanto caused it to happen.
